Last minute.com was the timing of the decision we ended up making in relation to our last dressage competition ,with our showground far too wet for a competition, our chairwoman very kindly got to work and arranged with David Shore to hire Adlington EC at the last minute so we could still put a competition on. Many thanks to David for supporting us in this.
Lots of lovely tests, last minute entries, Great Freestyles we had it all. Lovely weather (well what do you expect when you go indoors!) and great comments from our judge Erika Green.
Claire Mackenzie had a great test in class 1 Intro with her new baby horse Jenson & members Sarah Hobson & Pippa Brown both put on good tests in class 1 to gain 2nd & third places. Well done Member Pam Hodkinson, this was her first ever dressage test with Kalle & they made a super start, keep up the good work. Class 2 Prelim 12 was won by Bethan Owen but hot on her heels was mother Elaine, just 1 mark divided them. Freya Barratt the only junior put up a very good performance with her lovely pony Café Au Lait. Class 3 Open Intro & Class 4 Open Prelim were won by Abi Kinman with ex-race horse Fred’s First. Angela Santos got 22 year old Poppy out of Moth balls and did a lovely test to gain 2nd place with a score of 65.7% in the Open Intro, well done Angela & Poppy. Kath Lomas another of our members came a very creditable 3rd in the Open Prelim 18 and won the freestyle with her Jungle book theme. A mention again to Freya Barratt for putting together a lovely Freestyle & getting a score of 63.6% it was their first time out doing this. Novice & Elementary classes were won by the same horse Moorhey Great Spirit piloted by two riders Ellen Adams in the Novice & Eve Worthing in the Elementary. Member Molly Blackburn rode in both the Novice & Elementary classes with her lovely pony Jock getting a 3rd & 2nd respectively, which considering this time last year they were doing their first ever dressage tests is testament to Molly’s hard work and commitment.
Thank you Anna & Carla for your help on the day writing, stewarding & calling tests!
Hope to see you on the 28th August
