Special General Meeting

Dear Membership

The committee invite you to a Special General Meeting at the Cock Hotel, Whaley Bridge on Monday 30th April 7.30pm.

The reason for the meeting is to change the wording of our Rules/Constitution.

The amendment will be:

Rule9:                  To appoint an Auditor

Amendment      To appointment an External Qualified Accountant

Rule 11                 The accounts of the club shall be audited each year by the person appointed at the AGM.

Amendment      The accounts of the club shall be Independently Verified  by the person appointed at the AGM

The main reason for this amendment is cost:  Legally we are not obliged to audit our accounts as we do not have a turnover of over 6.5 million, have more than 50 employees or have assets worth more than £3.25 million (Please see GB Sport for information).

Currently our Constitution requires us to audit the accounts and this has been done by someone who has kindly not charged us.  However they no longer wish to do this.  It would then require an accountant to audit the accounts which is more costly than an “Independent Verification”

You are invited to vote on changing the club constitution as set out on the rules and we are giving you the required 10 days’ notice of the SGM.

We look forward to seeing you at the meeting on Monday 30th April 2018 for 7.30pm
